How KinderGuard Began
Founded by Shalah Akinyi in 2020, KinderGuard was born from a personal journey and a vision to transform childcare in Kenya.
KinderGuard was founded by Shalah Akinyi, a mother of a child with autism who struggled to find qualified caregivers who understood her son's needs. After years of frustration and seeing other parents face similar challenges, Shalah decided to create a solution.
Starting with just two students in her living room, Shalah developed a comprehensive curriculum that combined her personal experience with professional expertise in special needs care and early childhood education. The program quickly gained recognition for its effectiveness and practical approach.
Today, KinderGuard operates from its training center in Garden Estate, Nairobi, and has expanded to include both Special Needs and Private School Caregiver programs. With over 100 graduates working in homes across Kenya, KinderGuard has become the premier training institution for specialized caregiver care.
Our mission remains the same: to transform childcare by training exceptional caregivers who understand the unique needs of children and can help them thrive.
